Example Text of Performing Speech

Assalamualaikum warahmatullah wabarakatuh.

The honorable the juries and the adjudicators of English Speech Contest.

The honorable all of the contestant and all the Indonesians youth here that have good soul.

How are you, young Indonesians? Hopefully everything is in an excellent state and always blazing the spirit of patriotism and nationalism in the soul. Do you already know me? Maybe, some of you already know me here? Well, because the proverb said that “Does not know then no love.” So, that’s why let me introduce myself, I’m Fajar Ariyanti from Senior High School 1 Prembun grade eleventh. I’m sixteen years old, and I’m generation of youth. Y= Youth, O= on the, U=Unity, T=through, H=Humanism. The only thing I know that I will never walk alone in this world because I’m with you all the youths! I never walk alone in this world, because I’m with you all the youths.

That’s all for the introductions that I can make in this speech. Furthermore, please allow me to be able to deliver my speech about The Spirit of Youth Pledge Day.

Youth is a figure that always brings good change. In 1928, youths gathered altogether and then took the pledge in order to tighten the unity of Indonesia. This pledge was known as Youth Pledge or Sumpah Pemuda. All youths from all over Indonesia from various ethnics, cultures, languages, and regions strove for retaking the independence of nation altogether. This pledge has successfully elevated the spirit of nationalism of youths. The contain of Youth Pledge is:

Firstly
We, the sons and daughters of Indonesia, acknowledge one motherland, Indonesia.
Secondly
We, the sons and daughters of Indonesia, acknowledge one nation, the nation of Indonesia.
Thirdly
We, the sons and daughters of Indonesia, respect the language of unity, Indonesian

All my friends who really have patriotism in the soul.

If we talk about the young generation, let us see for a while the young generation in 1900 era. The young generation in that time was the pioneer of unity in Indonesia symbol. They had high spirit to do alteration. The spirit appeared when they saw awkward things in Indonesia. But, if we can see the young generation for nowadays or we often called them “kids zaman now”, what have they done for this country?

Remember. Indonesia doesn’t need the lazy generations that really easy influenced by negative globalizations, and never attend to the supreme value of this nation. But, Indonesia just needs the young generation that have nationalism, religious, and high spirit to build Indonesia.   

The long journey of Indonesia to the national independence shows us how great the influence was regarding our nation’s life. And then as the youth generation, what have we contributed to society, nation, religion, and especially for our own selves? Have we given any alteration?

Unfortunately, in this era of globalization, the youth fall into negative things, like engage in a gang fight, drink alcohol, free sex, until drugs.

My friends, we cannot close the eyes of today's conditions. We often  see in various media, both print and electronic, many youths are doing things that are not useful and are prohibited by religion and law, like a drug addict, and acted arbitrarily without rational thinking and acted without thinking about the impact of their actions. Many reasons they put forward as a defense, but as the young man who became the hope of the nation should always look forward with all his ability and try as best as possible in order to become the pride both within the family and the environment, as well as to serve the religion and the nation.

All my friends, naturally, for us, our children and for the sake of this nation, let us cherish our democracy back that has begun to fade unite to rebuild this nation in order to create harmony back that used to be one, proud nation. We can look back to the 28^th October 1928 when they were united by unity without discrimination, although they came from different area.

Many things that we have to change for ourselves, from the small things until the biggest things. From our clothes, our speaks, and our association. Let’s glance our environment, there are many youths that know cigarette, free sex, criminal action, and even drugs. That caused by how lack our care to think before act. If we think what is the impact for doing thing that are not full useful, we have to leave it, not love it.

 Remember the quote of Bung Karno, “Give me ten youths so I will conquer the world!”  Our brilliant ideas determine the direction and welfare of the people of Indonesia. It is time that we as a younger generation join and participation to change this country. Let us build a nation of Indonesia becomes more welfare and prosperous.

I have a great song and it will burn your fire to always be active in changing Indonesia for getting better and better.
